Public interest technology (PIT) is an emerging field in which technologists, designers, strategists, researchers, and policy makers leverage digital technologies to create more sustainable and inclusive economic and governance systems. This is the first convening of its kind in the US, bringing together the country’s most talented students and leading researchers with organizations and companies that are at the forefront of creating responsible and accountable tech that serves the public interest.

By participating in this virtual career fair, you will have access not only to candidates from host University NYU but also from 43 leading Universities in New America's Public Interest Technology University Network, and more. Our participants will have wide-ranging interests and training in a variety of specialties.

Handshake Tutorials for Recruiters & Hiring Managers

Preparing for the event:

  • Please create 1:1 sessions (10 minutes) and/or group sessions (30 minutes) ASAP

  • Provide a description and title for your session so students understand what your sessions will be about

  • Chrome and Firefox work best for Handshake, so please use one of those browsers.

Career Centers

If your school is a member of New America’s Public Interest Technology University Network, your career center can get involved in the following ways:

  1. Give permission for NYU to make your university a co-host in Handshake by emailing “CO-HOST” to Assistant Producer Rebekah Tweed

  2. Reach out to any recruiting contacts who may want to register to meet with students and alumni that are interested in Public Interest Technology.

  3. Student registrations will open on September 14th, at which time we'd love to have your help reaching students who might like to attend.
