A BETTER TECH Hackathon
The Hackathon took place during our two-day event and was led by Democracy Lab and Code for America. The two-day A Better Tech-a-thon event was an opportunity for nearly 300 participants to collaboratively apply their skills to innovate on a wide range of active tech-for-good projects, sourced from the Code for America Brigade Network and DemocracyLab.
The purpose of the hackathon is to help tech-for-good projects make incremental progress toward their long-term goals, and to give participants the opportunity to hone their skills, extend their networks, and begin long-term relationships as project contributors. Projects needed coders, designers, researchers, project managers, subject matter experts, test users, and just ordinary people. It was a chance to get inspired, imagine a better future, and contribute your talents to the public good.
Projects were submitted from non-profit organizations and startups working in the public interest, and volunteers contributed their talents on apps, maps, and other tech solutions for: Banana App , iSeeTree , Accessibility Ratings , Transpar-NC and more.
